ASTM A299 Grade B is a manganese-silicon carbon steel plate for use in welder boilers and other pressure vessels. ASTM A299 pressure vessel plates under this specification are produced in two grades: A299 Gr.A and A299 Gr.B. The specified minimum yield strength decreases for A299 Gr.B plates thickness over 1 inch [25mm].

ASTM A299 plates 2 inch [50mm] and under in thickness are normally supplied in the as-rolled condition. Plates may be ordered normalized or stress relieved, or both. ASTM A299 steel plates products over 2 inch [50mm] in thickness shall be normalized.
